About Kevin PCJ D’Souza

Board Advisor

Kevin is a Board Advisor to Kumi and an experienced mining executive and adviser with more than 30 years of experience across 50+ countries, working with operators, investors, governments and development finance institutions.

He has held senior roles with Kinross Gold, Resource Capital Funds, Centerra Gold, Barrick Gold and Acacia Mining, giving him a rare combination of operator, investor and advisory perspectives across the mining lifecycle.

Kevin’s experience spans community relations, government engagement, security governance, environmental management, permitting, sustainability performance, stakeholder conflict, human rights and operational risk. He has worked extensively in complex operating environments where commercial, social, political, security and environmental considerations intersect.

He brings a strong operator-side perspective to the application of Good International Industry Practice (GIIP) and international environmental and social standards. His experience includes implementing E&S requirements within mining operations, working with E&S conditionality from both lender and borrower perspectives, and advising the World Bank, IFC, EBRD and UN agencies on mining governance and responsible development. He has also contributed to the development of international responsible sourcing standards and initiatives.

A particular strength is translating international standards, lender expectations and corporate commitments into practical governance, systems and behaviours that work at the operational level. Kevin is often brought in where organisations need experienced judgement on complex issues, stronger internal capability, or a pragmatic bridge between corporate expectations and what is actually achievable on site.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys volunteering, travelling, cooking, reading and long dog walks.
